We bought a flat
If you’re wondering why I’ve been posting less lately, first off, thank you for your incredible thoughtfulness, because even my wife didn’t notice that. Also, it was all for a very good reason: we were busy buying a flat. Also, selling one. Also, working, because duh…
So, the week started with my wife selling her flat. I will also have to sell mine one day soon, so the game is not exactly over, and we’ll also have to talk to banks because we don’t have nearly enough cash to buy a place in Paris without it (who does?), but hey, step by step… That sale didn’t go smoothly either, with a bunch of documents that were supposedly ready were either not, or still not in the right hands. Not aided by the fact that the confinement and/or summer vacations messed a lot of processes up. My wife didn’t know until she got to the notary’s office if she would be able to even sign there and then. But she did, so that’s the end of that.
Then, today, we went back to sign off on the acquisition of our new place. Note: it’s about 8 minutes from either of our flats, almost exactly in-between actually. Like we planned it. Also, it’s located 5 minutes away from my brother’s, and my wife’s uncles also live nearby. In other words, almost too easy. Which didn’t mean that process was not hard either: because we sell 2 places to buy 1, the full process takes longer than your typical 1-shot deal, so we had to convince the sellers that we were worth the wait. And we are, obviously, I mean come on…
On the upside, signing legal documents only takes one digital signature now. Otherwise, the meetings alone would have taken half the week. I guess we were lucky. And now, on to the next step to actually buy the place outright. It’s gonna be a ball.
